Does Starvation Work?

There are many people who ask themselves why they feel like they are starving themselves and yet it’s not working.  Well, it’s because they’re not starving.  The most effective way to lose weight is to starve yourself.  Yes, it sounds horrible, and yes it is horrible.  But it’s a simple fact of life.  If you cut food out of your diet, then you are not taking in calories, and therefore your body over time breaks down calories, it breaks down fat, and it breaks down muscles to take care of itself, all leading ultimately to weight loss.  The difference is that most people don’t actually starve themselves.

They eat so little that they are always hungry, and then they respond to that hunger by eating excessive amounts, which undermines the whole process.  Moreover, they don’t keep up a regular regimen in general.  They’re on a diet one day and not on it the next, resulting in them feeling like they starved themselves and lost weight, even though it was only for a day.  So when we say why doesn’t starving work, well it actually does work.  It’s not a healthy way to go or otherwise.  But it is not the mechanism that fails, it’s actually the person, always human error in so many ways.
